What is a Ouija Board?
Today it's a paranormal communication device currently marketed and sold by Hasbro as a board game. Historically, it's a method for talking with the dead. Where does this come from? The ancient Chinese as a form of automatic writing starting over 900 years ago.
The modern Ouija uses a board with letters to spell out words, Yes/No for direct questions and even numbers. It uses a Planchette device (the pointer shaped like an upside-down heart) to communicate.
The modern board also has a dark reputation linked with possession, violence and even death. How much of that is true and how much is paranoia?
Some of that paranoia started with the movie The Exorcist: the story of a young girl being possessed by a demon. The movie shows the possession starting with the girl using a Ouija alone. The movie itself was fiction, but is based on a true story.
What happened in The Exorcist is not true, but the Ouija is not without danger, such as...

NEGATIVE ENERGY :
It's a focal point of energy from a group of people. This creates a buildup, all of which is not nice and positive that can build up and take over a session. Whether from the ghosts who carry it, like chains behind Jacob Marley in A Christmas Carol, or from a person in the group who had a stressful day.
But what is clear, the Ouija Board is not a tool of the devil, but instead a communication device that has it's roots in the most ancient methods of energy manipulation, giving us a better understanding of the "other side".

THE BIG 3 RULES OF OUIJA:
These are the top 3 rules that have protected me over the years. They encompass many different factors and are the root safe communication.

   1 . BE SERIOUS BECAUSE IT'S NOT A GAME
Being in a serious mood ensures your natural             psychic defenses are turned while you're talking to the dead. You are ready for negative energy, naturally closing yourself off to it, and protecting yourself  from it.

2 . ALWAYS SAY GOODBYE AT THE END
Mischievous or negative ghosts will refuse to say Goodbye. This is like  a stubborn child refusing to leave the store until you get them candy.             You take the kid out of the store just like you put the planchette  down to Goodbye. This ends the session and sets your mind to shutting that door opened from the other side.

3 . NEVER USE THE OUIJA BOARD IN YOUR HOME
The negative energy from bad ghosts can affect you. You're at rest and want to feel comfortable in your home, a place where you're most vulnerable. The last thing you want is negative energy swirling about, affecting your mood, causing problems in your family, and nightmares while you sleep.

HOW TO START COMMUNICATION ?

  • Be in a quiet room without disturbance
  • The Ouija session should not be interrupted because breaking concentration can cause delays and negative energy.
  • Be comfortable
  • Be seated at a square or rectangular table where the Ouija Board so you don't have to lean or bend your arms at awkward angles.
  • If the Planchette doesn't move ~ try luring a spirit with the following…
  • “Spirit, this is a safe place." or "Is there a spirit out there with a message for somebody at this table?"
  • If still nothing, switch roles! Try changing switching the Leader with an Energizer.

WHO ARE YOU SPIRIT?

Once the Planchette is moving, here are some things you could ask...
  1.           The spirit's name
  2.           The spirit's age when he / she died
  3.           The spirit's gender
  4.           What year they died in
  5.           How they died
  6.           Do they have a message for someone in the group, or someone connected to the group
  7.           Or, is there anything they want to say or request from the living
  8.           Or anything else you think might be important. A Ouija Board session is like a great                     conversation. Pretend to be  Larry King or George Stroumboulopoulos, but with dead                 people.

CLOSING THE BOARD :

Remember Rule #2, always say Goodbye!
What happens if you fail to close the door? Something negative might come through. Hopefully you never know the feeling of drawing a strong negative energy into your space.
A perfect example is what happened to me at the old James Street haunted shop in Hamilton.

JAMES STREET SHOP EXPERIENCE :

There were three of us in the old shop on James Street South in Hamilton when we decided to contact the dead. Sitting at a small round table in the middle of the shop floor with our homemade Ouija Board, we set out to contact the resident ghost.
Her name was Elizabeth, and she made herself known to multiple psychics. They said she didn’t like us in her home and was causing negative energy to drive us away.
We wanted to learn more and knew the Ouija Board was our best bet.
The old woman eventually came through. We asked, "Do you want us to leave?", and the planchette stopped. The board didn't respond, however the room did.
We started feeling very strange, like the air was heavy and hard to breath. Something was watching us from the empty psychic parlour, from the backroom, and in every dark corner.
The feeling of dread was so uncomfortable we decided to end the session by forcing the still Planchette to 'Goodbye' and quickly leaving the shop.
The next day the shop felt normal again.
If this happens to you...
Force the Planchette to Goodbye
Take it off the board which will break the connection
Remain calm, and make sure the team is also calm
The best method is to be proactive. If a spirit is getting angry or insulting (swearing or threatening) … END THE SESSION.
Saying goodbye before the negative spirit gets up a head of steam will usually work.ALWAYS FOCUS!
The ghosts being summoned are working through your team's energy. Focus is important. If one person is not focused and calm, then the message(s) could be slow and confusing. Focus on the energy that's moving the Planchette and nothing else............(source:wikipedia)

My personal take on OUIJA BOARD is that  it's really kind of hard to say. The board itself is just a board with a planchette. It's you that makes the board work. There are two schools of thought on this subject. The first is that the board strictly works through ideomotor response which means your deep subconscious controls the movements of the planchette and its subsequent responses. Many believe this is the full extent of the board's so-called power.

  1. ouija board phenomenon is sure to make an interesting film subject if not anything else... these claims of talking to the dead spirits is not only absurd.. but also misleading.. if dead spirits can be invoked and talked to.. i personally believe this world would've been a different place... there are people vouching to say that ouija board works just fine.. but.. i have a question.. if the spirits which have got super-natural powers want to communicate with us or send us a message, why do they seek the help of a man-made board..?? why not use their powers if there are any..??

  4. I think the ouija board is just another business strategy to improve the sales of the board games industry. People should be more informed about these stuff before blindly believing in such things.
