The concept of Exorcism and the Case study of Exorcism of Anneliese Michel

Exorcism what does it mean  ? Ans who's an exorcist ?  Here's the answer for it !
An exorcism is nothing but driving out the evil entity or demonic possession from a person or a thing !

For doing an exorcism the priest should be trained (ie) all priests cannot perform exorcism  not every family go for exorcism
For performing an exorcism the victim should have physical strength and usually it's believed that an exorcism done at the right time will drive out the evil entity

There are three types Exorcism
  • Baptismal exorcism is blessing an infant prior to baptism to cleanse it of the evil resulting of the original sin
  • Simple exorcism blessing a place or thing with evil  influence
  • Real exorcism performing a rite of exorcism (ie) to get of demoniacal possession from a human being there these are the three types of exorcisms

Anneliese Michel  in this case anneliese had died at the end of the exorcism.
She had experienced epileptic seizures.
She was depressed and she was treated  at a psychiatric hospital  she was just sixteen years old and the first thing she experienced was something pinning down her bed and she started hearing noises
Her family had convinced that she has been possessed by a demon  they asked many priests, to Perform the rite of exorcism but most of them neglected
She had intense dislike religious objects and she was unable to lead a normal life she physically and mentally  displayed aggression.
By eating insects and drank her own urine after that she had given a mood stabilizer and was prescribed anti psychotic drugs .

Priest Alt said that she din look like she had seizures , due to medical condition and Arnold Renz a priest started to do the rite of exorcism he dis over 67 exorcisms on her and at last stage of her life she just weighed 68 pounds
She died on 1976 after she died lot of questions has risen there were different perspective of this case (i.e.)
She might have died by not given proper medical treatment , if she had given one she would have been saved a week before her death

My personal take on the Rite of exorcism and especially this case of anneliese is that I partially believe her story and I have personally,  seen how an exorcism is done so I strongly believe the concept of exorcism and in the case of anneliese iam  surprised  by studying the whole case it's making me think from the different of view what if anneliese could have overcome the demonic possession if just few more exorcisms had done on her just because she wasn't physically strong to undergo the process she did not survive the whole process
Iam thinking  from a religious point of view,

She might have died because God wanted to liberate her soul and set her free and therefore this is my opinion on exorcism and the case of Anneliese  !! Do you believe in these kinds concepts ?

  1. Exorcism according to me is just another trick developed by religious priests to maintain their superiority over the commoners... people do believe in these acts and give in to the idea that there really is a possibiity of ghosts and evil spirits.. as for the case of annelliese, my notion is that she might have probably had a psychological defect or say an unrecognised disease .. we have to hold our answer to that till science finds factual evidence... in the name of exorcism some priests exploit people and even cause physical and mental damage which by any means is unjustifiable...

  2. It is common for people to put the blame on demonic spirits or even sometimes on god, when they could not find a reason to why a particular person might be suffering from a particular unknown disease. What i think might have happened is that anneliese might have been suffering from a disease that has affected some other part of her body other than her brain, and her parents might have been convinced by the priests that she has been possessed so that she wont be subjected to any other checkups on her body.

  3. having had to undergo so many exorcisms must have been so tiring for that girl. the concept that an evil spirit possessed her cannot be believed fully because anneliese didn't harm anyone physically..
